Phase 1: Ball Control

Today’s homework consists of 4 categories of touches.

  1. Foundational Touches
  2. Triangle Combos 
  3. Reset Touches
  4. Behind Body Touches

These patterns set you up for success in our combinations skills, as well as our dribbling patterns. We have shown several types of touch in each category (using different surfaces of the foot).  In Phase 2 we will progress these into quicker more dynamic combinations, so please focus on controlling your body (feeling athletic) while also controlling the weight of the touches before moving on.

Exercise 1: Foundational Touches

Perform 1-2 sets of each drill for 30 to 60 seconds.

  • Inside – Outside Alternating
  • Inside – Outside Right & Left
  • Outside – Outside
  • Rollover to Inside Stop 

Exercise 2: Pullback Triangles

Perform 1-2 sets of each drill for 30 to 60 seconds.

  • Pullback Inside Right & Left
  • Pullback Outside Right & Left 
  • Pullback Inside Alternating
  • Pullback Outside Alternating

Exercise 3: Reset Touches

Perform 1-2 sets of each drill for 30 to 60 seconds.

  • Inside Touch to Ripacross 
  • Laces Touch to Ripback 
  • Outside Touch to Ripacross

Exercise 4: Behind Body Touches

Perform 1-2 sets of each drill for 30 to 60 seconds.

  • Retreating Touch
  • Flat Touch 
  • Attacking Touch
